At our AGM on Tuesday 4th February we formally appointed our new Carnival committee for 2025. Our new chairman and Romsey resident Jamie Allen will lead our enthusiastic team of volunteers in bringing a range of much-loved events to Romsey this year, building on past successes. Combining the know-how of seasoned organisers and fresh faces from in and around the town, we are confident it will be a great team. To find out who’s who, meet Our Team.

Welcoming the news, Rt Hon Caroline Nokes MP for Romsey and Southampton North and Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons said:

“The Carnival is always such a fabulous event, and really brings the town together. I know it doesn’t happen by accident, and it takes a massive amount of work by dedicated volunteers. So it is great to hear that a new committee has taken on the challenge and I very much look forward to the carnival events of 2025.”

Jamie Allen said, “We’ll be continuing to carry the flag for the very important groups that keep towns like Romsey alive with exciting events. The new Carnival committee would like to thank everyone, and particularly the members stepping back, for working tirelessly to keep it going at the hardest of times through COVID and thereafter, and as new chairman I am eager to continue the traditions of the town with all of our amazing committee members and volunteers.”

With the organising team now in place, we are now working on our calendar for 2025, and further announcements will be coming soon. If you’re an individual, local business or group who is interested in getting involved, please do contact us by email: info@romseycarnival.co.uk

The Romsey Town Carnival committee is calling for volunteers to help run this year's events.

The carnival holds events throughout the year, culminating in the summer procession and mayor's picnic in July.

This year the theme is books. Romsey Carnival chairman and current Mayor of Romsey John Ray told the Advertiser he is looking forward to the summer months.

Mr Ray said: "Every year, our town comes alive with the summer and winter Carnivals, and I think it would be fantastic if our students could get involved. These events are perfect for showing off our community spirit and what better way to do that than by showcasing the creativity of our kids."

"We are thinking it could be really fun for the students to make crafts, to parade at the carnivals. This is a great way for them to express their creativity. Let’s make these events a highlight of our community calendar and a chance for our kids to shine."

He added: "This year’s theme is books in line with the School Curriculum of promoting the love of reading. These carnivals have always been a cornerstone of our town's cultural and social calendar, celebrated with enthusiasm by residents of all ages. This year, we are committed to making the events even more memorable and inclusive, and for that, we need the collective effort of our community."

"We are calling on the wonderful people of Romsey to participate not just as attendees but as active contributors to the smooth running of these carnivals. We need volunteers to help with marshalling the events, ensuring everything runs efficiently, effectively, and safely. Marshals will play a crucial role in guiding participants during the parades."
